The Recession and e-Learning – Made for Each Other?

When I was an instructor at a propriteary business and electronics career training school at the onset of the early 1990s rececession, the head of the electronics department explained our surge in enrollment. “When times are bad, they’re good for us,” he said in his southern drawl. “When times are good, they’re bad for us.”

So has the current recession been good for e-Learning? According to Marc J. Rosenberg, yes:

This recession has been different. In an era of cutbacks, the demand for eLearning – in all its forms – is up. Now, many organizations in the private and public sectors better understand not just the challenges and costs of eLearning, but its promise and potential as well, and want to see it succeed.

Time to step up.

So everything you learned back in typing class (at least those of us of a certain age) is WRONG! Specifically, the two space after a period rule.

But there’s a good reason.

What’s next? I guess someone is going to tell us that spirit masters and mimeograph machines are no longer necessary.
